LAPTOP VERSION

The laptop version is an MS-Windows application that runs in a laptop or desktop computer. It must be downloaded and installed on the device. There is no requirement for WiFi. Only the scorekeeper can see the results as the Games progess. Interim printouts must be made if athletes are to see their progress throught the day of competition.

The Games Summary page provides a quick snapshot of all the Games in the database. The newest is at the top of the list. Double click the Games listing to open the Games Update window.

The Games Update window is the hub for all activity in managing Games scorekeeping.

This is where you can define classes, assign judges, enter athletes into a class, assign classes to a trig roster, update results, print class results, print Games results and print athletic certificates.

This program provides tools for scoring using a points-per-place system or a handicapped Decathlon system.

CLOUD VERSION

The cloud version is a web application that runs in a browser on any desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone. No download is required but WiFi is needed to access the website. Everyone can see the results as the Games progess. Athletes can see their progress throught the day of competition by looking up the site on their phone.

The Games Summary page provides a quick snapshot of all the Games in the database. The newest is at the top of the list. Double click the Games listing to open the Games Update window.

The Games Update page is the hub for the scorekeeper. This is where classes are entered and athletes are assigned to classes. This is where the scorekeeper can print scoring sheets, class results and Games results.

All events start out with a white background and turn green as results are entered. This allows the scorekeeper and AD to see which events have not yet been entered.

The Class Results page is where the scorekeeper assigns athletes to a class and enters results for each event for that class. This is where classes are entered and athletes are assigned to classes. This is where the scorekeeper can print scoring sheets, class results and Games results.

All events start out with a white background and turn green as results are entered. This allows the scorekeeper and AD to see which events have not yet been entered.

The Braemar Results page is an example of where the best throw for each athlete is entered. This form is used for a 6 of the trig events; Braemar, Open Stone, Weights for Distance and Hammers. Tie can be broken via this page and the best extra throw for the winner can be recorded.

The WOB (and Sheaf) Results pages are where the best height toss for each athlete is entered. There are 2 pages for the event; an entry page and a verifcation/tie page. The entry page records each toss and the number of misses at the highest height made. This allow the computer to break ties based on misses at the highest height.

The second page shows the list in placing order before ties are broken. Each height is in a different color to make tie breaking easier. If a tie still exists after highest height misses are factored in, the scorekeeper can visually go back to lower heights to break the tie.

The Class Results printout is available to every athlete during the Games (so they can see their progress in the competition in real-time) and afterwards.

All of the above (except for class results) are only seen by the scorekeeper. A login ID and password is required for access. Only certified scorekeepers and Athletic Directors will be granted access. Individual athletes will not be allowed to upload their own scores.

The Games Results printout is what athletes (and family members) can see without the need to login. In fact, anyone in the world can see the results as they are entered and afterwards as well. Extra throws for record and for PR (if any) are shown for each event winner under the event column.

Scottish Scores provides athlete ranking lists. The topic of ranking is complex and is only valid if all Games enter their information into this site. This feature is in development.

Rankings are provided by Division; Pro/Elite, Amateur (A, B, C), Light Weight, Masters 40, Masters 50, Masters 60, Masters 70+ and Juniors for both males and females.

Rankings are calculated as a percentage of the World Record as of a certain date for each of the 8 non-caber events. Rankings can be shown for all the data in the database or for just the past 18 months.
